Windows 7 Users

Windows 7 is designed to run 64 bit software. My Word Book and most of the other software used today is designed to run in a 32 bit environment.  (NOTE: Most transcription employers will not allow you to use Windows 7, also some disallow Windows Vista. Word 7/Office 7 is also not allowed.)

WHAT HAPPENS is the software is designed to be installed in the C:\Programs Files folder. Windows 7 installs all 32 bit applications in the C:\Program Files(x86) folder thereby generating an error when the application is ran.

SOLUTION for My Word Book Trial and Full versions. I am currently working on a patch in the meantime call me, Bob at 404-405-5442. We will have you up and running in 5-minutes.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Add-ons and Coming Soon

PRINTING YOUR WORD BOOK

1. Requires Microsoft Excel

2. No help is available with this feature, however a basic knowledge of Excel is required.

(NOTE: Printing your Word List is great for students to review this weeks lesson; BUT as a practitioner... My wife (M-Tec grad) has been using MyWordBook since its creation in 2000, said; it would take hundreds of sheets of paper to print everything she has in her database.)

This takes a few minutes to set up but once it is set up you can save the Query. After saving the Query, you can update the Query at anytime with your new terms by selecting from the Excel Menu>Data>Refresh Data.

Set up Open Excel, on the main menu select>Data>Get External Data>New Database Query.

To retrieve the data.. In the Choose Data Source Box, Select MS Access Database. The file, wdbk.wdb, is located here.. C:\Program Files\My Word Book\. Select the file and Click OK. The First table contains the Word Categories, the rest are one for each category. Click the table you want to add. You will have several options to select from. Just choose NEXT to go through the selection process, Select finish... Next, etc. The easiest way to do this is to put each Query on a Separate sheet. You can then rename the sheet To the Category it is in..

In the first paragraph, tells how to Refresh the data. Remember to Save and you're set for life.

FREE SEARCH We have created a free search add-on which will allow you to search all sections of My Word Book. Search is limited to the first word.

WordBookQuery 2 will only work with a correct installation of My Word Book. The exe sits on your desktop or you can install it in your My Documents folder and create a desktop shortcut.

  • Unzip your download to where you chose.
  • You do not need to have MyWordBook open to use this search.
  • If you have a lot of entries then this will save you some time.
  • There is no help available with this add-on. I recommend starting a thread on M-Tec's message board.
